Safari Overview

Keep fit, have fun and explore in the second highest mountain in Africa!There are three main routes on the mountain that cater for 90% of all trekkers visiting the mountain- Naro Moru to the West, Sirimon on the North West and Chogoria on the South East. Most people go up and down a combination of these three.

You can camp or use huts on all three and the trek is normally 5 days to go up to Point Lenana and back down again. Sirimon route trekking with Parrot safaris will make your dreams come true! Itinerary Details

  • DAY 01: NAIROBI-NANYUKI-OLD MOSES

    After breakfast you, early in the morning you will be picked up from your hotel and off you depart for Nanyuki rolling over the central highlands.  You will arrive in time for lunch before checking in to the Sirimon gate. After the registration process, you will proceed to old Moses camp a trekking adventure through the bamboo forest and long grasses. You will arrive late in the afternoon and for dinner and overnight and rest in preparation for the next big day.

  • DAY 02: OLD MOSES CAMP-SHIPTON HUTS

    After breakfast, you will go further up to the ship ton huts that are 4200m away and take a walk through the Ontulili, Liki and Mackinder valleys being the broadest valley in the mountain. You will enjoy the serene view created by these valleys and also stopover briefly for picnic lunch before proceeding to the huts. You will arrive later during the day for dinner and overnight.

  • DAY 03: SHIPTON FULL DAY ACCLIMATIZATION

    On this day you will spend the day at the huts and later ascend to the Hausberg col for familiarization. This is because the higher you go the attitudes keeps on changing. You will later return back to the ship ton huts for dinner and overnight.

  • DAY 04: SHIPTON HUTS-LENANA-MINTOS

    You will wake up very early in the morning at 2:30am and after grabbing a cup of coffee or tea you will proceed straight to the lenana point arriving there at 5:30am for sunrise on a cloud free day and see Kilimanjaro as well. You will have a chance to take pictures. Go down back to shipton huts an later descend to old Moses for dinner and overnight.

  • DAY 05: OLD MOSES HUT-SIRIMON GATE-NAIROBI

    After breakfast in the morning, you will go down through the bamboo forest to the Sirimon gate and check out as you meet your driver to bring you back to Nairobi with lunch en route. You will arrive later at Nairobi and the driver will drop you off at your hotel for overnight and dinner.
